Re: Not sure what to say . . .
Yeah the story behind Quietcat (which I still use elsewhere) is that the first forum I joined ever was at NASCAR.com. I was a big fan of the #22 when it was driven by Ward Burton. My career has been about 95% Caterpillar and their sponsorship started my current NASCAR addiction . . . Anyway, I had never really thought about a screename and there I was registering. Well Ward is a soft spoken guy, and the net is sorta silent, and there is the CAT thing so that's the story.
Fast forward to about two years ago here and we had a name changing incident spurred on by a now banned member most affectionately known simply as Techno. He changed his f_nscreename more than most of us change underwear, so we staged a revolt (was that you that started that KB?) . . . Many of us came back with Techno variations like Technoquietcat or similar. Welllllllllll, the old software would not let you change your name back to a previously used name, and I was always kinda unhappy with Quietcat, because I am not quiet and I really don't like cats. I rationalized that JB and DJ were good acts to follow, and most referred to me already as QC here and elsewhere, so there you go . . .
I have to say again that I still miss Techno. He was like the crazy uncle you keep in the attic who we all know about and just have to deal with sometimes. He was also extremely intelligent, and his posts were often a puzzle that needed to be deciphered. He somehow manages to P off a lot of people, and at one time we were actually arch enemies. But he actually turned out to be a very compassionate guy and recently did a lot for another iboats member when he was in need. Somehow though he always ends up banned where ever he goes . . .
