I have a 1988 Four Winns Freedom 160. The fuel level sender is bad. Where can I find a new one? google searches haven't turned up much help.

Not to insult you, but have you checked ALL possibilities?
Bad connection?
Bad ground?
Verify the gauge too?

Yep. had the sender in my hand (out of the tank) and watched the gauge as I operated the float arm. Also grounded the signal wire and it went from empty to full instantly. Continuity in the wiring and the gauge seems fine.

iBoats sent me a new sending unit in about two days.
I think the replacement for that one, (my bad measurement), showed up in about a day.

Look here http://www.wemausa.com/

WEMA is the largest maker of fuel tanks sensors. There are other comapnies as well.

Anyway you should chuck out that old one and buy something a lot better. Newer sensors do not use an arm with a float. The use solid state electronics and induction or capacitance to sense the fluid level. They are far more accurate and reliable.

Most tanks have a data plate near the sender with the name of the tank manufacturer, model, etc.. Call them. That was you get the sender specific for your tank.

Looks like WEMA might have what I want. I just need to measure the tank depth and get it ordered before their 25% off sale expires!

Or get the part number of the old one and match it up. I ended up with the wrong sending unit because of my tank measurements.

Also, something I learned the hard way, my sending unit was directional. Trying to install it in the dark/rain was an exercise in frustration until I figured that one out.
