I have a 1200lb hydra-sport 18'cc kevlar hull(inshore or deep bay boat) the loa is 20'4",7'10" beam with a 11" notched transom. The engine is a 470lb,25"shaft dt150 suzuki outboard mounted in highest position possible and a doel-fin.From the top of transom to beginning of notch is 18.5 "which recedes 11"then drops down 8" to bottom of v.The anti-cavitation plate is .5" above the v now which can not be any where close to being correct. What wold be the best way to get prop into sweet spot which is now digging way-way too deep?I've considered a jackplate but am worried about upsetting balance of boat with the 11" notch already.Idle the boat sets perfectly but with a set back I'm afraid in any seas at all I'm going to be in trouble with the open transom.Any help or input would be greatly appreciated!

You've got a 25" motor where a 20" motor should be. That's the whole idea behind the step (notch). Outside of a different mid section a jackplate is the most obvious solution.

Re: notched transom ?

There are set-back plates and vertical extensions available at CMC.

Check the site at Cook-Mfg.

Bob's is the only convertable one that I know of. We've used and sold lots of them, excellent plates as are the CMC plates.

It'll convert from 3" setback to 6", negative wedge or not etc. Go to Bob's website and I believe there's an animated deal there showing all the options. We've used them on race motors of 300+ hp. No problem.

Re: notched transom ?

The 4 in 1 or cmc extenision plate for $99 will give me 1-5" of lift and should put prop in sweet spot. The cmc 5.5" hydraulic jackplate is actually what I want, I just wish there was a formula I could use to find out if 5.5" of setback would upset geometry of hull.
