Looks great... So, you wanna tell us why they get all the $$$.. I bet I can guess, but I would ask, is it because the material is hard/difficult to work with, or because it is such tedious work?

It's tedious work. The bottom seat alone is made up of 10 individual peices. I got all my vinyl off ebay.30 yards of vinyl was 270 bucks.50 yards of cording was 50 bucks. Thread was around 20 bucks for 1500 yards. Foam was 225 bucks. New plywood,ss staples and ss screws was around 100 bucks. I already had west system epoxy (used to seal the new lumber)

The best compliment I ever received was, You make it look easy.

This, coming from people who tried to do it.

Gotta be honest with you Lime, most of the DIY upholstery work that I've seen on here looks VERY DIY. Yours is the closest to pro that I've seen not having been done by a pro. Nice work.

Thanks it was alot of work with alot of trial and errors. that one seat took about 15 hours just to get the vinyl sewn just right. Hopefully the other 4 seats will go quicker now..lol I have all winter to get it done.

I had mine done a couple years ago by a friend of mine who does the work on the side. We made new wood base parts but reused the foam bits. We also simplified our design a bit to get rid of the seams in the middles of the seats which seems to be the weak point down the road. There are pics in my 18' American link below...

Wow impressive you even kept the original colors and pattern. I like this a lot more than one color. I would bet the vinyl you used is much better quality than the original when it was new.

Yeah, but now you know it's done right and what else you got to do this winter except think of the boat? Here's to another 10 years that thing'll last!

Strong work, lime4x4. Did you use a sewing machine?

Using a singer 15-91 from the 1950's. I bought the sewing machine for redoing all the canvas on the boat as well. Then just decided to keep going

If you guys think that seat looks good, you should see the job he did on his all-new front-and-rear biminis with isinglass. VERY impressive.
