a coworker of mine is trying to finish up a report and we're having trouble figuring out what to call something.
basically the way he said it to me is at the larger shipyard terminals by the waterfront there will be recessed areas with hinged lids on top that you can open and then have access to the water supply hydrant used to fill up the ship's holding tanks with water.
he is trying to figure out what the term for this space is and he doesnt want to use terms like "box" or "cavity". I'm sure there's a technical term for it but we are at a loss.
