Does downsizing include a new Man Cave outbuilding? With a nice outdoor kitchen layout?

Looks great!

It will. Current house i have set up with a kitchen, theres a thread here somewhere. And a bar and a pool. And a cabana of sorts. My wife has told me last 12 years we would die here so everything I've don't was with that as a plan. But she is a woman so....

There is a structure that will become a two story garage with a studio apartment above and it will have a basement that will be my workshop. Mine. ALL MINE I SAY!!!!

Every time I claim a space in the house I eventually get pushed out. I’m down to a few shelves in the basement. Best of luck.

I see some fishing from the shore
100%. The dam is 22 miles away iirc and they stock trout starting now thru Feb, not sure if they will make it this far but otherwise the usual compliment of species here in the south.

Our side of the river has a rock ledge that sticks out about 10 feet and at what seems to be normal level is about 6 inches deep, channel is prob 10 to 15 foot deep and 35 wide so I see me sitting in a chair ankle deep with a pole and a cooler of beer and cold fried chicken.

Oh and across the channel is an island so never will have houses looking back at us.

This sounds a lot like my current situation. After nearly 20 years and many tens of thousands of dollars, everything is finally about how we want it, my wife now thinks we are too far from family. I’m too old to start over so we will have to downgrade and have to sell the planes and probably the boat to keep from having a mortgage.

100%, been here 18 years and same with everything including high grade everything including roof, all of which I could have save prob 20k by going standard. Typically don't get any points for stuff like that. We will still come out ahead(ish) i think I'll need 50 to 75k to get where we want.

With the wife becoming disabled a few years back, I have been giving some thought to downsizing. Would hate to give up the home we built in 1999 but it is getting difficult to maintain 2800 sq ft on my own. On top if that there is 5 acres of land to maintain. One of the biggest issues is...what do I get rid of....not much junk as I keep most everything in good working order. But the thought of just getting rid of my stuff makes me uncomfortable. Not sure what the future holds, no one does, but not ready to sit in a chair just yet.

Still working to avoid thinking about it…lol

My biggest concern with moving is having neighbors. Lived on top of a hill in the middle of 30 acres for far too long. Not sure how well villagers would take to me, or vice versa…lol
