Oh No! Hooked battery up backwards...

1983 75HP Evinrude E75TRLCTE. Hooked the new battery up backwards but noticed it within a few minutes. Now my tachometer doesn't work. I did some research and discovered that I probably fried my rectifier. The motor starts and runs fine. Power trim and tilt work fine and so does the tilt & trim gauge. I only have a tach and Tilt/Trim gauge on my boat. I plan on replacing the rectifier first but is there anything else I should be worried about? Running voltage while going down the river says only 12.2.

thanks in advance for your time.

Your rectifier is gone. You are just showing battery voltage.

Yes you would have blown the rectifier instantly!

Hopefully nothing else damaged. Fingers crosed that the stator is OK

Theres a 20 amp fuse in the cable assembly. Not sure if that will have blown, check that .

Not a mistake you'll make again!
