Hello all! This site is Great! I did not see an introduction section, so please forgive me if i missed it! I am very new to boating and just made my fisrt purchase about two weeks ago. I purchased a pre owned, one owner Crest pontoon with 2001 75 hp Evinrude 2 stroke with only 299 hours on it. The motor had been serviced right before I bought it and runs great. I have had it on the water 3 times and sadly it is time to start getting ready to put it up for the winter here in NC USA.
This afternoon while getting everything set up for winter, I had the boat running at an idle for about 15 minutes with the muffs and water on to the motor and had stepped around to the back of the boat to start the fogging and my son throttled the motor wide open till i could back back on the boat and shut it down. The motor tacked over 7k rpm. I shut the motor down and let it sit for a few minutes and was able to crank the motor with no problems, idle, and the motor ran smoothly from there on out.
Now the question after the long intro. Does anyone think that damage could have occured during this time? It does not appear to have been damaged at this time.
Thanks,
