Oil capacity

Hi

I have a small Q about my stearn drive:

Stearn drive number OW 858431
Gimbal Housing number OW732405


i have just refilled my Alpha 1 gen 2 with gear oil - it could take 1,3 litre (=1.143 Quarts)

These 1,3 litre(=1.143 Quarts) is only the drive - not the drive lube monitor line etc. as the drive is off the boat.

Shoudent the drive take more oil? what is the capacity with and without drive lube monitor?

My original Mercruiser Workshop Manual dosent say anything about capacity - or at least i cant find it

Can't tell you the actual quantity of oil.We just pump it in until it comes out the top vent hole.Then we overfill the resevoir by 3/16 of an inch and it works.You can proof this out by letting it set overnight and rechecking the resevoir (or in your case at the vent screw).

The important part is pumping the oil in gradualy through the bottom hole.

Hi

I filled it from bottom with went screw out - and turned the propellershaft a few times to try to get any trapped air out - it is full - but i just thourght that a alpha 1 gen 2 should take app 1,8 litre

I don't know the Stated Capacity,......

But,....
I Do know it takes just a little bit of the 2nd Qt. to finish filling 1......
I think you're about Right.....
