I noticed small oil drip along bottom edge of lower unit under propeller. Must be from the shaft I quess. Iiis this easily fixable or should I be looking for another lower unit?

Engineand year please!

Your engine needs a prop shaft seal. On most engines this is relatively easy and inexpensive to fix with difficuty and cost of parts determined by engine model.

87 Force 125. Will I need to remove gearbox or can the seal be pulled from outside?

Outside and end of prop drive shaft. you will need model- serial #s to get the right
parts.shouldn't need to remove lower leg at all. If you don't already have one then purchase a force manual for your motor. Good luck.

I just answered a post on replacing a seal on an 85 Force. Yours will be exactly the same.

Really appreciate your, (Frank Acampora) easy to do step by step instructions. I have a manual but your help with this issue as well as all the other issues is much better and easier to complete. You are truely indispensable. Replacing the prop seal was very easy. When I pulled the hub out the old seal, just the rubber part fell right out leaving the metal ring in which I punched out. The rubber itself did not appear rotted or worn. Weird, huh! I was jsut wondering what would have caused this seal to fail like that?
