My 1964 VP i/o has a factory equipped, brass tube type oil extractor pump solidly mounted on the motor, piped right to the bottom of the oil pan.
so nice come oil change time. I never have to look for the pump.
I wonder why the industry decided that was too easy... maybe dealers complained it encouraged DIY service.

I went to do my Mercruiser today and I cannot find my pump...grrr. I know where it should be, but somebody didn't put it back.

On construction equipment I used to sell, we had a hydraulic hose that screwed into the original oil drain plug hole. This hydraulic line was capped and routed to an accessible location to drain the oil. I'm doing the same thing on my boat.
