My 25 hp 86 Johnson says 100 to one gas/oil. Should I go with that mix or error on the side of a little more oil?

They backed off that recommendation and the specified ratio for those engines is 50:1. I think they even issued labels to cover any printing on the engines that stated 100:1. If yours has that, you might remove or cover it.

My understanding is that the change was primarily to ensure that there was plenty of oil when the engine sat for any period of time unused. The 100:1 ratio just didn't leave enough lube sitting in the engine to protect it from corrosion.

Yes...OMC issued a service bulletin to make the ratio 50:1 instead of the 100:1

just mix at 50:1 and your good to go....1 pint to 6 gallons of gas
