I have a 40 hp Evinrude E-tec that will give a low oil warning after 10 min. of run time. Only does this on cold mornings. Have checked everything and changed oil. Any other ideas?

2005 model, no warranty just got back from shop still doing same thing. Does not do this in summer, only in the cold months.

Check with BRP as I vaguely remember a service bulletin about this condition but I don't remember the fix. The issue popped up first in Alaska as they run the rivers up there long into the fall. No sense talking to your dealer because they apparently don't know about the issue. You might even do a yahoo or Google search for "E-tec cold weather oil alarm" or words to that effect.

Same thing here.
The dealer uploaded new software to solve the cold weather usage issue. No problems since the install.

Just to clarify, are you getting a LOW OIL or a NO OILalarm?

If you are boating in temps below 40?F, your manual says to use the XD-100 oil to prevent NO OIL alarms.

In any case, see your dealer and have it checked out. Depending on the model, your warranty status, and the motor's history, there may be updates in the software or the oil system that could help the engine.
