I just read through the old thread...I guess we will never know the exact cause and what it took to fix it.....

I'm subscribing to this thread, - I have a small leak as well. 07 4.3... I've been putting a 1/2 pint in every time I run it for 4 - 5 hours and keeping a oil absorbing pad in the bilge... I'd like to know what you find...

I haven't stood on my head yet to find out where the leak is, but, soon I've got to find it... and off to the shop it'll go. I'm getting to old to stand on my head and turn wrenches!

9 chances out of 10 its gonna be your front crank seal. just R&R the seal. If it stops leaking, great. If not then it has to be the timing chain cover or oil pan gasket and they both have to come off to fix one or the other anyway so just replace both gaskets and be done with it...

After wiping the are down again today, It looks like the crank seal or the timing chain cover. Here are some more pictures:
