Hello I am new to this forum and want to thank all in advance who answer. I have a 1991 Rinker 260VEE with a 5.7 with the ALPHA 1 outdrive.I have been able to fix my tach thru this forum and I thank you all. I reset switch in rear of tach wasn't fully on 8cyl now it reads good. What I noticed in while boat was in well near prop area was some oil I think near prop area while motor was running while in neutral. The previous owner said the gimbal bearing, steering cable, exhaust bellows and steering cable bellows were replaced last year. I don't see any water intrusion in the bilge area. I don't see any oil or sheen on water in bilge area. This sheen I see on water is this normal or do you all think there is some sort of gasket leak on outdrive or somewhere else. After motor runs for about 5 minutes it seems to stop...any ideas are greatly appreciated.

An oil leak onto the water is not normal... Are you losing oil from the gear oil monitor in the boat (if you have one)?

Are you saying you do not see any oil sheen if the engine isn't running? The most common areas to look would be a leak from the outdrive itself, or hydraulic fluid from the trim system. Is either the outdrive or trim losing fluid?

I didn't notice any there before I started engine. I will check this weekend for fluid levels for trim and outdrive and see where they are. If it is low and I refill how risky is it to take about 20 mins on water to pull out for the year? Then I can check leaks while boat is at house.

The odds are you'll probably make it to the trailer,... No Problems...
But,...
I wouldn't go Skiing for an afternoon with it.....
