I have 88 dt85 that has had the oil injection taken off. I am still getting a single green bar on my oil level gauge. The tank and pump were removed so all that is there is a plug with a red, green, blue wire. Also there are two black wires. Would this cause the boat not to advance past 4000 rpms. If so which two wires could I short so the level gauge would always show full?

I have the same motor with the oil tank still hooked up. If the sensors think I have no oil it will sound an alarm and shut my motor down completely. Your sensor is still green and thinks your tank has oil in it so that part shouldn't effect your motor. when was the last time you did service on your motor? what was serviced?

I have replaced fuel line and bubble. Cleaned carbs, replaced water pump, and changed plugs. Just bought the boat a couple of months ago.

Did you pull the carbs off, take them apart and give them a thorough cleaning?

remac71, did the boat/motor sit unused for any lenght of time? If so, did it have this same problem before it sat?

The carbs were took apart and cleaned. It ran the same before cleaning the carbs. I have checked compression it is good. I am firing on all cylinders. It had a 19 pitch prop tried a 16 pitch ss got a better hole shot, but same result at WOT 4000 rpm.

There's a whole lot more knowledgable experts in here than me but I'm wondering if maybe you need to check your throttle linkages or throttle sensor. Do you have a manual?

I do have a manual. The TPS has been checked and it volted out at .53 at closed throttle and 3.0 at WOT. I did read that you could ohmn the mounting position of the sensor. Do you know anything about that? The manual says nothing about that. The trottle linkage measured exactly what the manual said it should.
