Oil mix confusion

Gonna remove the oiler on my outboard and premix oil and gas. Been told that 50:1 ratio is good. I did some research, and I'm getting different oil per gallon of gas. Read that 2.6 oz to one gallon of gas then i looked at the mixing tube that you pour oil to how much gas you have and the ratio has a bigger amount of oil. Please give me some advice on what is the right amount so i don't run into burning up the motor. Thanks for the input...

What motor?

As a rule of thumb, Early in the 40's, the ratio was 16:1, in the 50's. 24:1, since the 60's, 50:1

Use the 50:1 mix. I pint of oil to 6 gal. of gas.

I am guessing your motor will run 50-1 = 16oz to 6 gallons of gas or 2.6 oz per gallon. The fact you have an oiler tells me it is probably at least in the 80s but a model # would be good

In the US - 16oz/6 gal = 2.670z/gal.
For the Canuks on the site
In Canada- 16oz/5gal or 16oz/23liters or 500ml/25liters

Sorry the motor is a 93 johnson 50hp, it has a oiler but I'm gonna disconnect it. Getting some age on it gettin harder to trust the oiler, and expensive to fix. So I'm just looking to make sure i get the rite amount oil in the mix. Thanks
