Oil Pressure

What should the oil pressure on a 1996 Mercruiser with a 3.0. Mine runs about 25 to 30 psi. Doesn't seem high enough to me. Thanks for the help.

Ayuh,...

10psi. per 1000rpms is normal.... Has your's Changed recently,..??

At idle, minimum should be 5-6.5 psi, at 2000 between 30 and 60.

Check it with a mechanical gauge before thinking you have an engine problem. Could be a gauge or sender problem.

thanks. At Idle it's about 10. At 3000 RPM it about 25
I'll check with a gauge before doing anything else

What weight oil are you using? I believe Merc recommends 25W40. Don has posted the Merc recommendations on other oil threads. If the oil is too thin that will also result in lower pressure also.
