Re: OIL PUMP ON OX66

I dont think I ever saw a mikuni pump wear out.
its an incredibly reliable set up. do check the white plastic link clip occasionally. it will show signs of cracking a long time before it breaks.if it does break at least the pump will go to max oil :)
can the idea of trashing the O2 sensor. the motor will trash itself right after.in fact the O2 sensor is the second leading cause of wipe outs. test it and clean it every 100 hours.
if the cooling system maint is unknown do a complete system tune-up. not just an impeller. if you intend to work on this yourself be prepared to buy some test harnesses and test equipment. cant do much without it.
and whoever gave you the idea of trashing the O2 sensor is not a friend and while you may still drink a beer with them dont take motor advice from them.this includes you if its your idea :) :)

I was hoping to hear from you rodbolt, you see to be very exp. w/ yamahas. Thanks for the advise, I will probably do much of the basics myself as I have always serviced by own outboards and a few friends, but it was the old omc products up to and including rebuilds. So would you say cooling system and over all "TUNE UP" every 100 hrs ??Do you work for a dealer / are you a tech ?? Sorry Im new to the board.....

yes and yes
you need to get the factory manuals before doing anything
I will try to answer most questions if you have a manual. I am not a service manual. the service intravels are in the manual
once you have the manual we can disscuss individual items. if you plan to do your own service you willneed a DVM and some test harness as wellas a few other tools.
