I have a 1988 Eninrude 50 Horse....a VRO 50 Model #E50TLCCS on a fishing boat that I bought about a year ago. I have had a couple "boat repair" gusy advise us that we shoudl take off the oil pump and run a oil gas mixture cause on the motor that old it is bound to go on us at some point.

Short on cash, plus i hate paying people for something that I can do myself. But I dont know how. Can someone please give me a step by step on how to remove the pump. Photos would be great to. There are a couple things I am curious about....the hot wire that runs the oil pump....what do I do with that when it is discconnected. Also...rund oil mixture do I use? 50:1 35:1...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Oil Pump Removal Help

Sierra 18-7352 only two hose nipples, in, out, pulse from the back.

Sierra 18-7353 has three hose nipples, one incoming fuel, one outgoing fuel and one for the hose for the pulse.

BTW, there's no reason to replace the VRO if it's still pumping gas. Just disconnect it per the instructions in the link above. Waste of $50. Pump could go on working for 15 years!
