oil warning after water impeller change?

I have a 150 mercury XR4 1990. I recently changed the water pump impeller. I hooked up my engine flush kit to check the water flow before we took the boat to the lake. If I run it above idle, whether in gear or in neutral, the alarm will sound when it gets up above 1500rpm. I checked to see if the oil in the upper tank was full as per bleeding instructions (it was, right to the brim). It's not a steady tone like I had before the impeller change, it's a beeping instead. Any ideas.<br />****

Re: oil warning after water impeller change?

The alarm indicates that your oil sensor is not sensing oil flow. As addressed in some of the other posts in this forum, you should mix oil & gas 50:1 and mark your oil tank. Run the engine for a while and see if the oil level drops. If it does the warning module could be bad - since you've already bled the system of air. You'll get some smoke, and it may foul some plugs, so be sure to take the necessary parts/tools to deal with that while on the water if required.
