Oiler wick

When replacing an oiler wick (Evinrude 6504r) should it be trimmed to just touch the cam, or installed as is? When installed as is, it rubs against the backside of the movable point arm.

Must be an aftermarket wick?? They don't normally interfere, but of course if yours does, feel free to trim it.

Nope. Genuine OMC tune up kit. I'll go ahead and trim it away from the point arm.
