alright so I got my motor to stop smoking so much, came to find out the mechanical choke was on and I didnt know it. Now I am having some lack of power in the lower rpm top mid rpm range. I have a 22ft mako with a 2001 Johnson 225 and I only top out at 37 mph. From everyone I have talked to at the dealership who orig outfitted the boat with the motor when it was new they said the boat used to top out at low 50's. I am getting about 5600 rpm which is within my peak 5500-6000. I hear the motor bogging down when accellerating quickly then it seems to pick up slowly untill it gets up to speed. Could this be dirty carbs? what else could cause this?
