Ok hit bottom running about 25 MPH today, didnt stall engine or rip the motor off the boat :). and i ran it for about 30 minutes after at WOT and crusing noticed a bit of vibration while cruising but i cant remember if it did that anyway WOT was stable. only some dings in prop, i did this before but it was in an Ldrive :0 and it didnt damage anything. I dont think anything went wrong but i never owned an outboard before and i dont want that most expensive peice of my boat sinking to the bottom of the river one day...

Remove the propeller. Clamp a screwdriver or some item of your choice to the skeg so that the tip of the tool is at the end area of the propeller. This gives you a guide as to the clearance between the tool tip and the propshaft.

Now, slowly turn the propshaft by hand to find if it is bent, and if so the propshaft will require straightening by a reliable propeller repair shop or a machine shop. The alternative would be to replace the propshaft which would be rather expensive.

The amount of vibration would depend on the amount of bend. Heck, if running aground normally hurts anything there would be a heck of a lot of trashed motors around here. Not saying they can't be hurt that way, but the norm is nothing but a buggered up prop....like mine. Or a skeg busted off.

You didn't say, but if you are running an alum prop, I'd look there for damage before the prop shaft. Have a prop shop check the truin of it, or if you have a spare, put it on and see if the vibe is still there.
