India Pale Ale? That would make sense. Beer makes everything better.

Pretty sure IPA is Iso Propyl Alcohol. As for Pale oil? haven't got a clue.

OK, after a quick google search, it seems as though pale oil is a very lightweight lubricating oil. Also known as machine oil or sewing machine oil. like a cutting oil for steel.

I dont know how different one Naptha is from another. But Coleman lantern fuel is 100% Naptha. After reading all this I dont think I will be buying any more SEA FOAM at $7.00-$8.00 for a 16 oz can.... Looks like a person could make a gallon for that price... Petro Chemists... Whatcha Think???

I don't know what it is for sure, but I put some up against the end of an almost completely stuck twelve foot steering cable with 100 lbs of air pressure behind it. About 4 hours later, it showed up at the other end, along with the rust and dead grease that was jamming the cable.

Seems to do a grand job of spreading the exhaust passage carbon all over the neighborhood, too.

I'm no chemist so I will continue to use Seafoam. Their stuff works, and I think I'd rather spend 8 to 10 bucks over risking my motor with backyard chemistry.
I don't use it often, but when I do it works.
Example: my wife's Durango 4.7 needed an oil pressure sender when it was 8 years old and about 150k miles, I ran some Seafoam in the crankcase for 250 miles at that time as a trial balloon. What happened was a substantial increase in power. Must have been crudded up or sticky rings or something. And this was in a Mobil 1 motor.
Seafoam rocks.

it does the job, it says it is suppose to. Cost of materials, Factory overhead, hazardous shipping and handling. and the inventory deserves his share. can you do all this for the price.

i will keep using it. have you price BRP engine tune, which is basically the same, as deep creep.

I agree SEA FOAM rocks... Thats why I think it would be great if you could make your own for < $10.00 a gallon. I have a Pick up, a car, a boat a snowmobile an ATV a lawnmower a snow blower and an Ice fishing auger. So I could go thru some Sea Foam. But after I googled --What is Naptha it is apparent that there are different forms of Naptha.. I dont know how different one is from the other. I would not encourage anyone to use a home brew without doing a little research on what is NAPTHA exactly. And then make your own decision. :)

In a month or so I will be using SeaFoam like this:

SeaFoam A Lexus

Supposedly cleans all the sensors in the intake system

Re: OK Now do ya wanna know what SEA FOAM is made of???

I personally think it would be poor economy to try to make your own. I have 3 snowmobiles, my boat, and a few other seasonal motors that I use seafoam in for fuel treatment and fogging. Even with that I use only about 20 cans a year. I buy when itis on sale for about $6 a can and stock up. So, my total annual expenditure for Sea Foam is about $120. Even if I could make it for 1/2 that, it just wouldn't be worth it to me to save that $60 because of the hassle, running around buying ingredients. mixing, finding containers to store it, etc. I'll stick to the commercial stuff.

Actually ruins them. Say good bye to your O2 sensors and your catalytic converter when all the oil hits them.

Personally, it is poor economy using any snake oils, especially SeaFoam.

What are you basing your claim on??

I have been using Sea Foam for 20+ years in everything from a gas trimmer to cars, carbureted, fuel injected, 2-stroke, 4-stroke, and have never had any problem whatsoever. I have never ruined any sensors including O2 sensors.

Rubbing alcohol is a mixture of IPA and water so you wouldn't want to be using that.

And by the way, gasoline already has naptha in it.

I have not been using SeaFoam for 20+ years either and been saving my money. The only people that SeaFoam benefits are the people that sell it.
