Old 450 CM Terry Questions

I aquired a 450 Terry. It has a 85hp Evinrude. Not the original motor I think. Data plate on the boat is a little hazzy. However, it has the following ratings: Max hp 55, Maximum pounds 465 and Persons, motor and gear 850. My questions are: How can I find out the year? Where can I find an owner's manual and is there a good web site for parts and accessories for this boat? My sons and I would like to rebuild it. Thanks.

Owners manuals for boats even today aren't of much use since they are very generic and about 2/3 of the book is devoted to safety and boating in general. An owners manual for your boat would likely be the same. Owners and Service manuals for your engine are available. Check E-bay and other on-line sources. Factory service manuals are always the best bet. Put some thought into the 85 HP on a boat rated for a 55. That amounts to over powering, is illegal in some states, and presents a serious liability problem in the event of an accident -- your fault or not.
