old 50hp Evinrude controls buzzing

I have what i think its a 78. Evinrude 50hp. recently i was on a long cruise and the motor just started to lose power and stalled out. it was smoking out of the cowling. I tryed to turn the engine over, but it just clicked. the next day i tryed to start it again. when the key is turned on it has a real loud continuos buzzing. now the engine will turn over but not start. whats with the Buzzing???

Sounds like you might have overheated it. Start by checking compression.

i have checked the commpression. 140 on the bottom 80 on the top. Should it still be able to run???

Oooh. That's not good. They should be the same. The 80# cylinder has a problem. You're going to have to open it up and take a look.

It should run like that though but it wont run well for long...
