Old banged up prop - ok for temp use?

I'm helping out my brother in law with trying out a couple of prop size options - he's currently overpropped. I have a spare prop that's banged up. But at looking at the pics, do you think it's ok to put my banged up prop on there for a once time run just to see if the RPMs approach the required range? Again, this would be a one time temp use only. If this size works, he plans on buying this size in a good condition prop. I could also try to gently file away rough areas and edges before this one time use.

Might be a shaky ride, but you should be ok. I’m sure some of these guys will say you’ll have to replace the block after running that for 3 minutes!

I've seen worse used for a whole season. If it doesn't cause noticeable vibration, use it until he figures out the correct pitch. Those rounded edges could distort your/his read on the performance so sharpen them up, if you have the time.

I'd knock the burrs off flat with the blade surface, and that's it. If it's causing heavy vibration "I" wouldn't take it for a WOT run - back to the dock.

Who knows, it might run smooth. I have an old prop that doesn't look great (not that bad),but it's as smooth as butter.

Looks like a pretty repairable prop. For around $80 it could probably be made like new.

But to answer the question, as long as it doesn’t vibrate, I’d be ok running it for a short time or as a spare.

Yeah, if it does not vibrate it should be OK. Yeah a good prop shop will mahe it like new for way less than a new one.

I've run props like that for a long time with no issues.

Its not really that bad. I've seen worse on boats that are used on a regular basis.

I was looking to see a 'banged up prop'. All I saw was a prop with a bit use on it.... :D

As already said, knock the burrs back with a file and go boating.

Not bad at all, I'd probably not even waste time deburring it, it doesn't look bad. (well, yes, I would, because I'm that type of person, but no matter what, safe to run it!)

Just make sure it has the correct hub for his motor before you try to force it on there
