Old Boat Identifaction help request

Hello Everyone,

Can someone help me to identify this boat? It was my Grandfather?s boat and no one in my family can remember the make, model or year. Any leads would be greatly appreciated. Note the seating arrangement and the rear cockpit station. In my minds eye it had a different motor but that does not mean much; motor can be swapped out and I remember a bunch of them in his boat shed. I have fond memories of it and would like to study it in great detail if I could find another copy of it.

top of my head Chris Craft or Century runabout. looks like an old johnson/evinrude motor.

there were many double cockpit boats in that era.

Thanks tashasdaddy. I will launch my search using those brands. Any idea of a year?

BTW, I lived in Jax from 81 to 99 on the westside and Argyle area. I loved the town but don't miss the heat.

Well, the motor is a '51-'54 Evinrude 25. The boat could be any one of a number of plywood runabouts that came out in the 1950s. I will keep an eye out in my old magazine collection for ads or pics...

When I first saw the picture, I thought it was a SpeedLiner. After doing some searching on the net, now I'm not so sure. I am guessing that is the original paint job and it sure looks familiar. Maybe someone can enhance the area of the picture on the outside of the hull in line with the front seats and make out what appear to be graphics. Good luck!

Hard to tell from the photo, but was the boat plywood or aluminum? There were some fairly fancy lummies back in the day that shared similar lines...

As has been said, there were a 'zillion' builders of similar boats then. Trojan started out with similar size/style boat, they have some good historical pics available on their site, you might check there to cross them off your list. (Trojan only if it was plywood, if aluminum as has been mentioned, then ??)


I just looked at the Trojan site, probably not....

Yea, it was wood. I can remember the stringers up in the cuddy section of the bow. All my rides in it (that I remember) were in the front seat.
