I have this old Evinrude gas can and was wondering when it was used and what outboards it was used with. Of course it has the name Evinrude on it and on the back it has a list of mixes for a lot of outboards. Can anyone tell me about it? It was made by Eagle.
Well my photos are too big I'll have to resize them.

It's older that that, It's not a tank it's a take along gas can so you can refill the tank monted on the outboard when it runs out of gas. it is before the twin hose tank came along.

Here are the photos of the gas can. The clip on top must have held a hose of some sort. Any one know what it looked like? And was this can sold with the outboard or was it only sold separately.

I was hoping some one could point me to where I could find out about this gas can. This gas can has a built-in on-off nozzle, When you trun the nozzle to the clip on the top of the can the gas is shut off.

I think your right, I seem to remember my grandpa having one like that.

What other outboards does it mention on the can for the fuel mix, that would be a big clue. As a guess I'd say either late 1930s, or right after WWII since metal was rationed during the war.

Micky and jim, you have an Evinrude gas can, sold by Evinrude dealers. You know, one of those Extra Profit After The Sale Items. The dealer sells you a motor then loads you up with a bunch of accessories. Gas can. Oil. Life Jackets. Anchor. And anything else you need.

It is fairly rare. Yes, it was to refill the built-in tank on Evinrude (or any other) outboard. The clip was for stowing a flexible pouring hose.

I dunno, probably around 1950-ish. I'll bet they can tell you at the Antique Outboard Club's website. www.aomci.org
