I have an old style 1981 Skeeter Bass Boat. It is the final version model of the Skeeter Hawk. It is 16.5 feet long and has the ribbed fiberglass outside walls, three seats in a row from front to back, stick steering, live well along one side of the three seats.<br /><br />I do not like the new style bass boats. What are my options?<br /><br />Does anyone know of a company that still makes a fiberglass version of this older style boat?<br /><br />I see some of the manufacturers are still making this style boat in a metal version and calling it a "crappie boat".<br /><br />What are the chances of me getting Skeeter or KingFisher to custom-make me a new one from the old molds? <br /><br />Could an independent boat maker copy my current boat and make one from scratch?<br /><br />Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.<br /><br />Thanks! :)

Re: Old Style Skeeter or KingFisher Boat

Crab bait on this BBS might be interested if the money is rite and he's in the mood...He's a jim dandy wood boat builder. Getting the manufacturere to do it is going to be an impossibility...usually the molds are destroyed after discontinuation of a model..they also have a limited life span too. But then again..maybe they'll sell you the old cracked mold and you can work somethng up. Another alternative is to find another boat that has been a garage queen all its life. That is VERY possible up north, in the south the boats stay out in the weather all the time. The style of the boat your refering to is "Bomber". The new aluminum types are pretty good too. They are lighter and plane out on less HP. Morse stick and a front pedistal can be added to most any jon, v-hull or modified v jon. I can build a boat from aluminum but it won't be a tri hull like most of those old designs were, it would be a modified v.

Thanks "FlyBoyMark" for all the information. <br /><br />After I posted the question I did find one company that may still make a "bomber style" in fiberglass. A company called "ProGator Boats" in Benton,Louisiana is showing one on their web-site.<br /><br /> http://www.progator.com/pg154.html <br /><br />Did KingFisher Boats in Clarkesville, Texas go out of business? They used to make several of this style boat.<br /><br />Thanks again and let me know if you run across anything.<br /><br />

Sorry I don't know anything about Kingfisher Boats.....but I'd like to find a little boat like them called the Osprey from 1973 circa..hull is like a Sears trihull fiberglass with nice finished off gunwhales and motor well, about 13' long and rated for a 25 HP with Morse stick stearing. Was a real lite weight glass hull.
