Old Twin Hose question

Does anyone know of a decent clear picture or diagram of the old Twin Hose gas tank connectors? I would like to send it to someone that might have some of the tanks. Thanks in advance, Robby

I do not have a picture, but they are easy to identify.<br /><br />The tanks have a heavy metal filler cap. They also have a primer button built into the fuel guage assembly.<br /><br />The connectors are also metal. They have two ports that are identical looking and the hose barbs are the same length.

YES...It would be a Godsend. We are an older HOA with 100 slip Marina, the oldtimers are dying off, and the old and new people are tossing good stuff out. Would like a pic for the marina. I just scored a 58 Johnny 18 laying at the curb with a bad block (but a single hose tank, and thats what got me thinking). Tried to get back to you earlier, but my ISP was down. Heh, how ironic, I just got a '58 Johnny 18 with electric start off a fence post for get this ...$75.00, spent $25.00 cleaning it up, runs great, I will take pics and send them immediately <br /><br />Richard<br /><br />I will make sure I get the e-mail right before I send the pics

DJ, I don't want to hijack this thread but, My old 2 hose tank cap has a chunk missing out of it just below the o-ring that seals the tank. Now if it finishes breaking where it dosen't seal what kind of cap can I put on it?

cajun,<br /><br />I THINK I understand your question.<br /><br />The old two hose systems required tank pressure. Thus, any screw on (of same thread type) cap that would seal the fill hole would be sufficient.

Cajun,<br /> Keep in mind that not everyone takes care of their tanks. Many are left outside, or with old fuel in them and have rusted out. Often, these still have the caps on them. They're not hard to find... An older marina may have a "graveyard" somewhere with numerous old tanks and junk kicking around. Might be worth a day of sleuthing to see what turns up...<br />- Scott

SD, darn right ironic on the Johnson 18! Amazing really, as what I considered kinda ugly in the 50's as a kid, but turned on by the sexy Merc looks,.. well it reminds me of that song "If ya wanna be happy for the rest of your life, pick a ugly women to be your wife"!<br /> And Chinewalker, you REALLY need a Therapist. I was flabbergasted to say the least when I ran into your website off of "Johns Old Mercs" and saw the toy motor collection. But I flat damn near choked and covered the screen with coffee when I saw the "Wall"...simply beautiful collection...and those old Merc/Hydro pictures are precious..just how do you find the time? Simply amazing whats behind closed doors (IF you can get them closed!)

Chinewalker, my wife says I have toooooo many motors, was looking thru your site and came across "The Wall" Looked at her and said that she can never claim that I have tooooooo many motors. She responded that I do not have a building big enough for that many motors. Do you think this would be a good time to show her the plans for the new pole barn? I also have a '56 Merc Electric MK25E, got it for $100 but it is green? that green goblin litterally screams, had it up to 30 mph on Lake Wawausee on 14 ft Starcraft 2 years ago, and the boat had not completely planed out. That motor will never leave my side Later
