OK I have no idea what model this is. I just bought it for next to nothing and figured it would be an easy fix and it would be but I can't find a wiring schematic for it. The guy I got the trolling motor from said he had no idea what the model was. First of all how can I identify the model and at least a ballpark of rhe year.
Second where can I simply download a simple wiring diagram for the footpedal. Apparently the previous owner thought he could fix it and disconeccted all the wires in the footpedal and I have no idea what has to be attached where.
I've heard good things about the older mercury motors and hope it has enough power to push my 12' john boat.
Any help will be greatly appriciated.

Re: older mercury thruster

Ok , i called them (dougrussell.com) and then I went to their shop and they could only recommend for me to call Mercury. Believe it or not, I never could get ahold of a real person. All automated answering systems.
I was just hopeing someone could just flip a similar foot pedal over and take a couple of pictures and send them to me.
I have all the wires. I just have to replace some and I can't see spending 150.00 on a new harness.

Re: older mercury thruster

I have all of the serial # except 1 because of damage to the tag it is on. 5106_41. Underlined is the missing #.
I'm guessing it is a mid 80's model.
It has a switch on the front edge of the footpedal for on-off-var. On the left side of the footpedal it has a speed selector knob for 1-6 and on the right side it has the on/off switch.
