Just bought a boat with an older MK Endura 40 (it's the model with white on the top) & the threads for the screw on the quick release bracket is stripped....

looks like this quick release gizmo is all one piece....any ideas before I apply my shade tree mechanical skills?

Tap it to the next larger size and use that size screw (unless room and available material is an issue). Most of the quick release mechanisms are aluminum so they drill and tap easily.

Thanks smoke....I'd already thought of that as the first option....should be enough room to enlarge the opening....got a drill & tap set coming...only thing, this is that heavy, black plastic type material & not metal...is that an issue or will it be easier to work with?

If it worked before it will work again -- probably better since a larger fastener will be used. By the way, you can go to a home improvement center/hardware store and get a new screw with any number of knobs attached.

Thanks for coming back to tell us you got it fixed. People don't often do that. Nice to know when the forum is helpful. Helps us know what works and what doesn't. Catch a big one!
