Its in a 92 sunbird. I had a exhast leak where water was getting into the head. I have preplaced all gaskets at this time and I don't have a change in power. What I mean is the boat will not go no more than 10mph. It will not plain out. The oil pressure if the gauge works right is right at 10 psi while at idle and after about 5 mins of idle it will drop to 0 on the gauge. When the motor is at 2000 rpm it will have a little over 20 psi. I know it may need some timing and some carb work but what is causing my low oil pressure. Barrings getting bad time, time for rebuild, or sell boat?

Re: omc 3.0 loss of power

Doubt that replacing gaskets would keep the water from getting in. Where is/was the water coming from, rusted/leaking manifolds most likely?

What does the oil look like? Bearings would not cause the low oil pressure (or at least not anywhere like that much).

If you are getting water in the cylinders then that doesn't really help the power much. Your problems are not timing or carb related.

Re: omc 3.0 loss of power

We think the water was coming in where the exhaust bolts down to the manifold. So do we think we still have water getting in some where. Everyting i have read suggest that we tune the carb and get it timed and see what it does. My real worry is loss of oil pressure.

after looking there is not water in the oil now. So the question is still there why such low oil presure and not reving over 2200 rpm when the lower unit is in the water?
