I have an 88 Bayliner Capri with an inboard. I am going to attempt to change the rear main seal in the OMC 3L Cobra. Does the leg have to come off to pull the motor out or can I just slide the motor forward once its lifted ? Worked on lots of cars and outboards but this is my first inboard.
Thanks for any tips.

Ayuh,... Pull the drive 1st, then the motor lifts straight up...
The motor also has to be Realigned when reinstalled...

The drive must be removed first. Also be sure to use an alignment tool when you get the engine back in and check the alignment before installing the drive.

( Dang Bond-o,that one finger typing beat me again..:p )

Sure! Welcome to Iboats!

While the motor is out inspect everything for rust and paint the oil pan good.
They are known to rust through...;)

Re: OMC 3L Cobra rear main seal

Good tip, The rear main seal is a 2pc seal. Can I slide the top half around the crank or do I have to remove the crank? Any tricks ?
Thanks
