omc 4.3gs 1996 no fuel

i was running my boys boat up to temp to winterize and it quit.it has a electric fuel pump thats not running.i checked at the relay and there is power in the big red wire only.im wondering where the ground comes from on the crank side.i assume its done on oil pressure once running but not sure.could someone tell me a quick power and ground scenario on those e-pumps.thanks

Nope, that is how a Mercruiser works, Volvo is different.
The big red wire is hot all the time, the relay has to be energized to run the fuel pump. That is either while cranking (comes from start relay) or thru a diode in the green wire coming from the alternator.

You can check the fuel pump, but removing the relay, and making a jumper and jump between the big red wire and the Yellow/red wire going to the fuel pump.
