Omc 800 - upper gearbox seal question

I saw a picture of the upper gear box parts diagram on another thread. I hope someone will reply with it.
My question is, is item 53 an o-ring? Does it sit at the bottom of the gear assembly to seal the case? I have an oil leak dripping around the pump. I havent gotten the pump houseing off. The gear box is still attached to the boat.

Number 53 is indeed an o-ring. It sits at the base of number 51 just before it flanges out.
