Does any one have any fixes for a 8000 OMC leg that sticks in the down position? I can loosen the three bolts on the gear to tilt it back up, but no fun doing this every time.

try the search function, blackhurl... there must be 100 or more threads on stringer tilt issues. it is the #1 issue with those drives.
start with greasing the trunnion bearings where the drive pivots.... they are to be greased twice per season
then move on to the electrical - cleaning corrosion from terminals and connections/ fuses etc

yes, temporarily removing the quadrant gear and replacing it for trailering is the emergency procedure

Thank you, I did look at some other posts, I was hoping there was a majic fix, like welding a stopper on the gears, soo they didn't go as far and jam. or using a spacer so the leg didn't go so far down.

Tap the tilt button a couple times instead of holding it down so the drive doesn't slam down. If it slams down, there's a good chance it will bind.

Agree with Howard on the rest - I've answered this a bunch of times myself as I'm sure Howard and others have too.
