OMC Cobra 4.3 Which starter motor?

We have twin OMC Cobra 4.3 (GM V6's) engines in our boat, which was built in 1991. Both engines require new starter motors, but the serial numbers are un-readable, so we don't know which ones to order, can anyone help us out?

It is the same starter as the mercruiser engine because they are both gm engines. The v6 and v8 starters are the same part numbers. You will need one that turns clockwise and one that turns counterclockwise.

According to the Parts manual, the 4.3L Cobra uses the same starter from 1986 to 1992, part number 3855177.<br /><br />You do not have a reverse rotation engine in your boat, ignore the previous posts by MooseHootie.

Go to basicpower.com they have pictures<br />and information to pick the right starter.<br /><br />There are different bolt patterns - different<br />bolt lenghts - and standard and gear reduction <br />starters. Then buy them any where you wish.
