Well I went down to my boat today and started her up. I suddenly saw a jet of water comeing from behind the engine. Uposn further investigation I found the nipple on the power steering cooler was cracked and thats where the water was coming from.

After I took the cooler off I saw it was almost completely clogged and the cooler needed to be replaced.

The OEM coolers (and even Merc coolers) are $250-300. Can I get by with ab aftermarket cooler? Like this one?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390255142140&crlp=1_263602_304642&ff4=263602_304642&viewitem=&guid=41afb67d1290a02652937f63ffcfd7f9&rvr_id=167981604700&ua=%3F*S%3F&itemid=390255142140#ht_898wt_1162

I need to fix this ASAP but if there is any way besides spending almost $300 please let me know. Ill buy it if it comes to it but I just wanna see first.

Thanks,

LAC

Yea I see lots of used ones for sale. Mine is probably worse than most but I dunno how water was even going through it.

I guess stuff happens for a reason. Im pretty sure that sometime it would have clogged completely up and then there wouldnt have been water going to the engine and it would have been toast.

Lol that is funny Don.

I found tons of them. The question was whether to use aftermarket or not.

Go to the above link and find one the right size, get some hose barb fittings and save some bucks.

OR, Click Here

HAH! those are even BETTER deals!

You MUST always do your homework before buying ANYTHING on EBAY!!

I remember the fuel-cap/gage I bought for my little John Deere lawn-tractor a few years ago....

On EBAY they were all over the place for about $15-20 (+ shipping of course!!)

BUT if you went to JDPARTS.com or trotted on down to your local John Deere dealer, you could get it from the JD parts counter for $12 + tax!!

A lot of people think that if it's on EBAY, it's a good deal!!!

When I sold my PS cooler on ebay, there was another one there ("new") for over $200 so the guy that bought mine thought he was getting a "good" deal at $95!!

Do your homework!!:D
