dropped anchor the other day to do some fishing, when i looked over the stern i could see a sheen of oil on the water. i at first thought it was lower unit oil, but i could see red droplets rising to the surface, hydraulic fluid {whew!}. as anyone ever changed the seals on one? the boat is kept at a slip, so i can't tell if it's the ram or the line that is leaking.

Bottom line is you need to pull it out and find out where it is leaking ,before you contaminate the whole marina. Most likely a hose.

Had a leaking hydraulic ram last year. Replaced both at the same time with almost new rams from a salvage yard (boat sank). Easy job if you're handy with the tools. No outdrive disassembly required.

Hope this helps.
Lou
