Re: OMC Outdrive

If i could not take it out and run it I would not buy even if it had twenty covers.

Re: OMC Outdrive

You don't know if the engine is any good
You don't know what model of engine is in the boat
You don't know what is wrong with the outdrive

They say there's a sucker born every minute, but that's not true...

When you try to sell this boat all fixed up full of your hard earned money and elbow grease, it will still say OMC on it, and you'll sadly learn how few suckers there really are....
If you leave the drive brand out of the ad, the first question every caller asks: "is it OMC?"
yes...
"click"

the rule for OMC powered boats is offer what the trailer is worth minus the landfill tipping fees for the hull

Re: OMC Outdrive

I have had good luck with my OMC but honestly I would not advise anyone to buy one at this point...with all the Merc and Volvo powered boats out there...why buy something that will take more effort to get fixed...be worth less...and be more difficult to sell....just doesn't make sense....if I came across a good V-6 Cobra drive I'd buy one for a spare for my boat if the price was right but that's the last OMC stuff I'd ever buy....

Point taken. If it is not worth the time that I put into it to fix it..... What is the sense..........

I know it's a tough pill to swallow, but if you hang around here long enough you'll see thats guys know what they are talking about. The good news is you found this site before you made a costly mistake. I did just the opposite, I bought the boat and then found the site. Mine has no problems but it will always be in the back of mine mind waiting for the bomb to drop. Good luck, but there are a zillion boats out there better suited for someone starting out. Ernie.
