I just picked up a used prop for my V4, part # 389948. I think thats the #, kind of hard to read. Is this just a run of the mill prop or a performance prop? It also says 13 3/8 X 17, but I measured it and it's more like 12 3/4 in diameter. Haven't tried it yet, just wondered if it's worth anything. Got it for free.

Re: OMC prop identification

389948 is indeed a 13 3/8 X 17 OMC SST double cupped prop.Fits 70-75 hp 20" shaft and V-4 90,115,and 140 hp models. That's right off of an old OMC propeller guide. It's probably been dressed down a few times over the years which would account for any loss of diameter.Originally came with a teflon painted coating.Make sure the hub is running true and if you test it out on your rig ,just make sure that you stay within the engines WOT operating range .That'll give you an opportunity to see if you got yourself a good free prop.Good luck.

Hey ,What ever source you got it from wouldn't happen to have a 13X19 laying around they want to give away would they? :D

What do you mean by double cupped? I can see the cupping on the edge. Does double cupping mean it continues around the tip of the blade like my Stiletto?

Double cupped means that the prop is cupped on both the leading edge and the trailing edge of the prop blades. If yours is worn down and been dressed alot ,who knows how much of the original cupping is left?If its still close to original ,you should be able to see and feel it near the tip of the trailing edge.Rotational balance is the main concern.
