Another neat tool or product I found is 3M Scotchkote Part No. 054007-14853 this stuff is a goo that you can brush over wiring to fix the insulation..it WILL be water tight unlike most shrink wrap and butt connectors and you don't have to cut your orginal wiring...if you'll take the wiring off the engine it won't even be that messy. I have a friend that is an electrician and swears by this stuff. He say it'll even be okay on pulg wires if you'll wrap the wires first with rubber tape...then put the coating on it.
