Hi
I'll be coming over to the States in a few weeks time for a holiday :p , and I thought I'd stock up on a few spares while I'm there, as they cost a fortune in the U.K.

Does anyone know any good outlets in or around the Davenport area of Florida? Or anywhere in Orlando come to that.

Thanks in advance.
Steve

Re: OMC spares in Florida?

Thanks guys

Dhadley, I'm just going to try to get basic stuff for maintenance of my 1980 Johnson 55, ie, gasket set, water pump kit, carb kits, maybe a couple of coils that sort of thing. I also need a new prop and was toying with the idea of getting one of those variable pitch jobby's.

What do you think of those? Just that I only use my boat for fishing, and my loads vary alot. Don't need great performance, just want to save my engine from lugging when I'm loaded up.

Thanks
Steve

Steviecops, nothing in Davenport for Evinrude. You need to go to Orlando or Lake Wales for the nearest dealer. I suggest Orlando. They have a West Marine dealer in Daytona that carrys the variable pitch props you asked about. Nice day trip anyway from Orlando/Davenport area. I use the Evinrude 48 and get most of my parts from a Lake Wales dealer. You will stand a much better chance of in stock items in Orlando however. I can get you the address/phone number for a good dealer if you like. I live in Davenport by the way. Nothing here... trust me.
I use the Pirahna props with replaceable blades on my engine. Very happy with them. They are not variable, but quite inexpensive to replace a blade. Hub has lifetime warranty on it. I have looked at the variable units, but a little pricey if you ask me and it would probably return marginal results in my case.

If you are going to be here more than a couple of days order your parts mailorder and have them delivered where you are staying. You will probably pay less and won't have to spend your time driving around Orlando. Believe me most of the dealers in this town have idiots for partsmen and only a couple have a good selection.

Thanks for the great information.

The mail order sounds the best idea. Are mail order companies in the States generally reliable? I don't want to order parts and have them arrive after I've left! I'm there for 2 weeks.

Gil009, it wouldn't hurt to have the phone number of a good dealer just in case.

Thanks again
Steve

Will locate their business card with address and numbers Monday. Left them in the office. Sounds like we are going to DISNEY WORLD! I eat out alot around I4 just west of DW. There are more people here from the UK than anywhere else in the world it seems. Some times its 3-1 over locals. Most of the visitors are fair skinned and over do it trying to squeeze in every min. Get burned to a crisp! Makes me hurt just looking at the lobster look. Wear Sun Screen!

Yes, so far I have never been burned on anything I ordered in the way of marine products over here on the net or by phone. Ironically I order my tackle from the UK! Get better leaders, crimping tools and service from there than local shops. Go figure. Only costs $3 or so to ship my order and I get it in 10 days or less.
