On 2 ski`s yes. it might have a problem pulling up a 200lb slolom skier.

I have pulled 2 skiers behind a 16' homemade, with an old 1966 35hp Elgin outboard. It all depends on the skiers.

Buying a different boat would be better. You'll have to replace the engine and outdrive, and that's if the motor mounts will fit, which I doubt. The 2.3 is a ford engine.

I've had one for years and have no problem pulling up 2 slalom skiers...if they know what they're doing. A 200 lb inexperienced slalom skier may have some trouble.

Dag, I have a 2.3 Cobra on an 18.5 aluminum Crestliner. I run anywhere from a 13.75x15 to 13x19 depending on what I want to do. The 17 is my favorite overall. With the 17 my top end is ~35 (w/speedo) @wot even with 4 people and full tank. It will pull tubers and slolom and still idle for putting around.

I've also thought about the 3.0L for a few more horse. But, my 2.3 runs so good and has enough power for what I need I just can't justify the cost.

Even the 3.0 OMC won't bolt right up to the OMC Cobra outdrive. The exhaust manifolds/risers are different.
