OMC Sterndrive 1977 Tilt & Trim Johnson 75

I was entirely sure on how to best title this thread, yet i went and did it anyway.

My tilt and trim motor has kicked it, it's a problem with my commutator headset. Which I have ordered a replacement part:

OMC Cobra Sterndrive TILT MOTOR GROUP 120,140,175,190,235 HP STERN DRIVE

I have a Johnson 1977 75hp Outboard and this part seems compatible with my (T&T motor. Part Num. HYB 5001.)

Another question I have is how to I manually raise and lower my outboard without hurting the hydrualic systems? I forced the motor slightly down and then instantly regreted doing so as hydraulic fluid appeared. Is there a way to control the reservoir?

Moving to Johnson/Evinrude forum. Since you have a 75 HP outboard, and only looking at some sterndrive parts for your trim, it doesn't need to be in the IO forum.
