Ok, it's ugly but here it is, if he ever ships it to me.View attachment 188862

That doesn't look to bad but of course the parts that really matter cant be seen. Either way, for $525 its worth the risk. When you get it, take it all apart and take some photos. We are fortunate to have some Stringer guru's here who can spot problems right away. I have experience with the uppers so I can help there.

Ok, thanks, here is the boat I bought for 500 with froze up 351 and stripped stringer. Here also is the engine I bought for 500, but it only had 200 hours on it and is a fine remanufactured engine, and if I can sell all of the accessories that came off of it that I didn't need, I will have most all of it back. I have already gotten 200 of it back from selling the motor mounts, thermo housing, a wiring harness and a shift plate assembly on ebay. I still have around 300 in parts, bell housing, oil pan, flywheel, etc, etc to sell. I already have the engine set up right, in the boat, running, ready to go. I know its a lot of work, but I'd rather do the work than finance a boat.Boat engine.jpgSea Ray 2.jpg I bought it thinking it only needed the engine. I am addicted to salt water fishing.

150193_380235402014421_1199360699_n.jpg I bought this boat last summer with burnt up power pack, rectifier and stator. It was an easy fix, and I had a blast last summer with it. The profit I made from the boat covered all my summer fun, fuel, bait, etc.

Re: OMC Sterndrive Identification

I wound up with a good set of gears and a foot and shift cable to sell. The gears were pitted a little, but have no fear, I have all necessary tools to work on this thing. I took my 4 inch grinder and cleaned them right up. The shimming was real loose, so I did myself a favor, and went down to the tool store and bought a bearing splitter. I got that thing tighter than a dicks hatband. You can barely turn it by hand, at least I don't have to worry about it slinging apart.

It was a very nice boat. This century may not be as nice of a hull but I like it. I had to sell the McKee Craft to buy a mobile home. If I can earn enough money this summer I will keep the Century.

Just joking about the grinding and having it tighter than a dicks hatband. Trying to bring a little humor into this. The used set of OMC gears I got did have some very light chipping. Its back together and I am going to see how many years it will last. I am going to run a kicker outboard on it incase I ever break down. Thanks for all the help.

Re: OMC Sterndrive Identification

Also, if I can manage to sell the shift cable and lower unit for what I am asking, I will have made 150 dollars in profit and spent nothing. As long as the little bitty chips last a long time I will have done A ok. I have run lightly chipped gears a long time before in transmissions with good luck. If it only lasted one summer, that would be fine. I am going to run it until the input shaft turns and the output shaft turns no longer. Thanks for helping.
