I have been told by a marina the aftermarket replacement transom seals for OMC stringer drives are sub standard.

Can anyone confirm this?

I think mine was made by Sierra. I didn't have any problems with leaks or cracking and used the boat for years.

Have gone through two aftermarket boots in two seasons. Paid for the first one to be replaced. The second time the supplier paid for the replacement boot and labour. Unfortunately the time it took to get this resolved lost us the whole season. Go for the OMC original would be my advice based upon my experience with both aftermarket boots.

Check to make sure your rear stringers are not rotted and your engine/drive is not off putting undue stress on your boot.

That was the first thing we checked. Everything was fine. The second boot only ran for 8 miles. The supplier tested it and found the boot was defective. They replaced the boot and paid for labour.
